    Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to check in and say Hello! Some of you might be aware I have been quite ill recently (my old dicky ticker is playing up again but in some really weird ways, been diagnosed with a random rare syndrome that only women get haha, so either they have the diagnosis wrong or it seems I was always destined to fancy men!), so I have been active answering emails and doing what I can behind the scenes but have not been around the forums recently!

So only my point for the post, I have been rebooting my adult affiliate sites this week and upgraded them all to SSL as well to be honest it just seemed like a good idea!

Then I did some research looking around at other sites and noticed no other affiliate blogs / sites use SSL… My Question is why is it just a matter of cost? Is there some technical reason I should be aware of? or has it just passed by in everyones growing TO-DO lists?

I only ask as I am sure I have read somewhere that google will add a small amount of favor (tiny i am sure) to sites using SSL… I would have thought this is something bloggers would have jumped at to get that SEO boost!

Thoughts on a Postcard as always.

Sorry to hear you haven’t been well lately and I hope you’re feeling a bit better now. It sounds like you’ve got an interesting diagnosis going on there. I have been using SSL on my blog for the past few months and I really like it. I use Let’s Encrypt, which is absolutely free and I also use a plugin (SSL Insecure Content Fixer) to ensure the existing content is secured to ensure the padlock stays green and doesn’t give any security warnings. I read the same thing about SEO and it looks like SSL is the future, so I figure it’s good to start now.

I turned on SSL on my 1000+ domains lately cuz google somehow will like it in the future – I find it disturbing however that some sponsor programs still have iframes NOT suporting SSL. If you load non secure content within an SSL page the content will simply not load inside the browser and e.g. a signup form will not show for the user – that irritated me in the last months, but I will stick to SSL and just had to switch my partners.

Im getting an issue right now of a little orange triangle in the top right of page instead of green padlock for sponsors who do not use SSL to stream their trailers! So Far Ive worked through 10 and only 2 have SSL on video trailers… Im not looking to host 10000000 videos right now so suppose I will have to deal with it

It seems actually from some research that more blogs use SSL than actual sponsors do! Where is the logic in this? Blogs are not actually collecting and storing customer info such as usernames and passwords where sponsors are…

Maybe we need a new rally and call to arms! And I really was thinking that we could still be the “pioneers of the internet we once were!”

For any wordpress Bloggers out there, SSL is completely free through cloudflare.com if you use their CDN (also free), you might need 1 or 2 lite plugins to make sure everything redirects to Https properly without looping but literally who can argue with a free service that could rise you up in the ranks! Only issue is you could get the “Mixed content” problems if you hotlink to sponsors videos and don’t host yourself!

Lately I have been talking to almost all mayor dating companies be it in the US or in Europe – the overal answer to SSL is “if there is need for it we might think about it”. Using encryption is not a big strain on one’s hardware anymore (about 1% CPU time) and a quite hassle free setup if one would supply a HTTPS and HTTP link or just redirect/rewrite all URLs to the secure HTTPS connection. This way the dating signup forms or videochat iframes could be secure for the user and if included in a non secure site the iframes would still load properly.
