Hey neighbors –
The last three weeks have seen a crazy drop in pageviews on my adult blog to Google Analytics. We’re not able to identify a technical problem on our end, but we’re fairly sure that it’s inaccurate seeing as the drop is so extreme. Is anyone else experiencing this on their sites? Could it be something with Google’s algorithm?
pocolocoGuestOn September 23, Google has rolled out their Penguin 4.0 update. Perhaps that has something to do with the drop in traffic?
I am seeing quite a lot more traffic, which started about two weeks ago. Always hard to figure out why numbers have changed.
mar.LiGuestCheck that your Google Analytics code is still in place on your blog. I just experienced the same thing and thought Google had killed me, but I forgot to put the Analytics code back in the header.php file after I did a theme update.
rajeshGuest2nd this, seems everyone’s traffic is up or down a bit in the past weeks, If its a big drop I would blame the penguin!
phyllisGuestI’m also seeing a large increase in traffic starting a week after the penguin update. October is also normally a better month than September.
Have you looked at what pages dropped the most? Identify a few big losses and do a search on Google to see if they have disappeared or lower ranked than you would expect.
If you use Google sitemap / webmaster tools you might also be able to identify a drop.
ezrixGuestAlso been seeing a good rise this month after being pretty stagnant for a while. However, we’ve been tweaking and improving so it’s hard to say whether it’s a result of Google updates or something we’ve started doing differently.
