Just wanted to throw this out there and see what comes back.

    1. I had tweaked the title and description tag on my adult site.
    2. I checked the SERP’s 3 days ago and Google had picked up the new title and description and ranking improved.
    3. I checked the SERP’s yesterday, and Google still had the new description but totally different title from AGES ago and ranking dropped a couple spots.

Has anyone experienced this or have any sort of idea as to why Google does this? What causes this? Anything? I’m open to any kind of reason for this as I’m totally confused.

Help shed some light on this for a simple minded old fart please.

There are a number of possibilities that I can think of:

    1. Your new title may not have propagated through all the data centers around the world.

    2. Changes in title tag used to be considered a major change and could often throw a site into the mythological or real sandbox. Not sure if this is still happening.

    3. I know that Google does not pay attention to the description meta tag and often just pulls a couple of lines from wherever it feels like on the page to display as the description in the SERPS, so your description could vary. Do not know if they do the same with the title tag.

Well, while we were talking on skype, now you see what I’m talking about … you saw what I’m seeing and it doesn’t make sense to me.
