Hey everyone, Im a total adult affiliate virgin and I could really use some tips on getting started.
I plan on doing a niche porn blog and I already have my topic/potential affiliates.
My problem is the whole hosting thing.
I am leaning towards a paid hosting and domain,
but Im not willing to spend big money since this will be my first blog ever.
Do you guys know any decent hosts that are very user friendly?
I would start with blogger, but the majority of posts i’ve searched say that paid hosting is the way to go.

The paid hosting is the way to go.

I’ve yet to find a host as easy to deal with as I’d like. I currently use Arvixe for most of my hosting (because they accept adult business, are affordable and I’m now used to their layout), but I’m reluctant to recommend them because upgrading a service with them is almost impossible for someone not so tech minded.

I would like to move all of my different sites with them onto a dedicated machine, but can I find someone there to do that for me? No chance! Their technical assistance is very sporadic, with some being great and others seemingly not giving a crap about you. As it stands now, I’m looking at hiring an IT person to deal with Arvixe for me just for moving everything to a dedicated machine, because they seem totally disinterested.

Most people here will have different stories about who they use, and I would definitely suggest following their advice. I think Mr Adult Affiliate has made a post about the adult hosting so you may try the hosting which he recommends.

Adult paid hosting is definitely the way to go. You do not want all your work vanishing overnight because a free service decides it no longer needs you. And it is pretty cheap too, you can be up and running with a blog for less than $5 a month.

I look at it this way – a blog is like a novel. You write that novel and add to it every day. If you were typing that out actually as a novel that you one day hoped to have published, would you trust a free service to look after it for you, a service perhaps known for burning manuscripts that it does not like? Or even destroying it the moment you make a mistake? Not all of them do of course (they are not all as bad as each other).

However, I would say that everything else really depends on you, how you plan to use it, how fast you will use up the allocated resources. I would say that you should not just think about throwing WP on there, start an email list too. There are options in cpanel for installing this yourself, and there are options with plug-ins through WP too. But both will mean you needing more space in the future.

I guess you should really sign up for a package you can afford. For instance, with another host I had the cheapest package, and the blog maxed out on space last month. I have now upgraded it to the next package for more space, and that is still less than $10 a month. I will probably upgrade it again in the next six months as I am planning to rebuild it and want to add a lot more.

I suggest you to read this post:

Sleep Well With A Good Adult Friendly Hosting

The hosting mentioned in this post is just amazing. Yeah, the site looks like stuck in the 90s but their service is really good.

I know right now go daddy gives a lot of people a bad taste, but my blogs are through them and I have not had a big problem. They have a special with wordpress also, if you are thinking of going the WP way.
Another great host is 247Host I use them for my white labels. Excellent customer service, allows adult and is very inexpensive. They also I believe have a WP special, again if your going with WP this is the way to go.

As MrAdultAffiliate has said, as far as paid vs free, go with paid. Otherwise you wake up daily only hoping your blog is still there. Remember they use a TOS but can change it without notice, so what you post today may not be allowed at midnight and bang your gone, no warning, no chance for an appeal, just gone. So always go paid.

I host some of my blogs with Certified Hosting and never had a problem until last month when I was getting all kinds of mod_security problems locking my own IP address out of my account. That got fixed and then today I was again locked out of my sites via my office net connection. Very strange and the techs still are not sure why. I will say the tech support at CH has been good, but I’ve never had these problems at the other hosting companies I use (I spread out my blogs over several).
