So what are your thoughts/experience on this?

There is a domain I’m interested in. When I type it in it redirects to a site domainnamesales.

I’ve kept my eye on it for a couple years now – because I’m not ready to develop the concept yet – and though some of the variations have opened up, the .com is still unavailable.

My instinct is that an undeveloped domain name should be going for cheap, but the ticker feed at the site selling the domain list thousands of dollars for similar names.

Anyone have any good/bad experience with the site offering to broker the deal to sell the adult domain name?

I have to say, I am especially leery because they have a ticker across the top of their site indicating queries for domain names. Which makes me think that if you indicate any interest the price will go up.

Having said that, I admit I might be a bit overly cautious.

I’ve bought plenty of domains and have had great experiences with just about every domain I put an offer on. It is best just to make an offer. Domain names are nothing like they used to be and domain holders are definitely more desperate. I wouldn’t count on the domain expiring or anything just bid on it and hope for the best.

Thanks. I know in the past I’ve heard stories about people wanting unreasonable amounts for a domain name. I’ll make a bid.

A domain is like anything else for sale. The seller can ask whatever they want…BUT the real price is what a buyer is willing to pay.

Make a reasonable bid and nothing more.

What is worth to YOU? That is the price you are willing to pay…that is what the domain is worth..

Ask the seller to use a third party domain seller like Sedo or an escrow service like Escrow.com. If they refuse maybe there is something fishy going on.

Having said that it has been my experience that there are very few adult domains worth spending more than the standard $10 fee on, unless you have a very specific need. I have always been able to find alternate names to ones I wanted that worked just as well.
