What is the value, if any, for calculating your own adult site’s conversion ratio.
Meaning, calculating the number of clicks your site records you’ve sent to a site against the number of transactions the affiliate program says you’ve had? This is not to be confused with looking at the number of clicks the affiliate program says you’ve sent to the number of conversions they say you’ve had.
From what I understand, it is near impossible to get a 1-to-1 click comparison between what sites record they’ve sent and what a site says they’ve received. But does anyone know of any value in calculating what you’ve sent vs what has converted — other than identifying huge discrepancies (e.g. you think you’ve sent 10,000 they say you’ve sent 10).
Someone argued that it would tell you how much traffic you sent to a site. However, I couldn’t quite understand his point.
JackliuGuesthugh? this is a little confusing.
but, you should always record the number of clicks you have sent based on your own internal program. it gives you an accurate calculation of what a click is worth compared to other programs based on numbers (banner clicks) that are the same for all sites.
When you say vs. what has converted do you mean what they recorded?
DOCGuestI dont myself calculate a ratio based on my own recorded clicks.
BUT
I do check now and then that sponsors clicks and my clicks are somewhat simliar. Like you say, they will never match up and I wouldnt expect them to do.
So in that respect its valuable to be able to have as a comparision. But I cant really see the point of calculating a conversion ratio based on my own recorded clicks.
JackliuGuestNow I understand the question.
You also have to look at how the sponsor records the click. Some do 2nd page and only they know what that is. Meaning your banner software can’t possibly know how many clicked 2nd page. (At least not that I know of).
Counting clicks 2nd page has been a trick with many affiliate programs to make your conversions look better.
hansmGuestI didn’t explain it quite clearly so let me try again . . .
the discussion I had with this person was about the value of measuring
the number of transactions (credits, new sales, etc) an affiliate program reports / number of clicks a website says they have sent to an affiliate program
this is different than the usual conversion ratio which is
the number of transactions (credits, new sales, etc) an affiliate program reports / the number of clicks the affiliate program says they have received.
affdotGuestI think it was best said by this guy.
