I’m planning to move my adult affiliate area to its own domain and was wondering…
does a dot com or dot biz extension make a difference when you go looking for affiliate tools?
The dot com name of my program is parked so I was thinking of using the dot biz but want to make sure webmasters can easily get to it.
dannylzjGuestIt really makes do difference whatsoever.
I registered the .biz of my site thinking I’d make it the affiliate site. Then we took that site in a new direction and now I nave no use for the .biz…
As long as your affiliates can find your site, I see no difference.
DOCGuestAs an affiliate I don’t mind either way. I think its easy to use if its just a part of the normal site. As long as its easy to find.
If you use a .com and a .biz you’re likly to come up with both on Google if people are searching for your site name. To see what I mean, do a search for the domain name on Google.
egarGuestYea – but you own both the com and the biz. Paul just owns the .biz of a name. On the boards I see people refer sites with just the name, no refer url or an extension … which tells me everyone assumes the .com part. I still think that com is, and will remain, the king of domain extensions, and therefore the better choice.
egarGuestTim is correct.
The dot com was taken so I registered the dot biz name.I’ll look into some other domain names that have both the dot com and dot biz available.
cbyrdGuestI think registering a .biz when the .com is already registered might end up getting you into trouble. You could end up with a letter sitting in your mailbox from the .com’s lawyer.
Charles AGuestit no really matters
MarshalGuestPersonally, if you have the com, then splitting off to use the biz for an affiliate site makes sense. If you don’t, well, to me it seems a waste.
my 2 cents
