Hi, I’m new here and was wondering if there is a way to check the cookie length without contacting a sponsor, since in my experience some of the smaller adult programs without an affiliate rep do not always reply to emails.

I moved this thread out of the cookie list thread because we don’t want that thread clogged up with lots of discussion, we wanted the posts over there essentially to be from sponsors to let us know about changes to their affiliate cookies. But you have a great question and it should be addressed, so I moved it to its own thread. Hope you understand.

If you’re using Chrome it’s fairly easy to see details of a site’s cookie.

Click Settings, then find the Privacy section, click “content settings” then click on “all cookies and site data” and in the search box, type the site domain name and Chrome will bring up all the cookies for that site.

NOTE: the site’s cookie will only show up if you’ve clicked your affiliate link, if you haven’t, paste your affiliate link in the browser and navigate to the site in question, then repeat the above.

TGS has four different cookies. I don’t know what they all pertain to, but the first three all end when the browser session is closed. The fourth one called _utmz appears to be the affiliate cookie and for me it’s showing an expiration after six months, which is very generous.

I could be wrong but I think the _utmz cookie is Google Analytics.

I don’t know if the _utmz cookie is specifically and always for Google Analytics. I guess you’ll have to have TGS what the length of their affiliate cookie is set at because the other three cookies all expire at the end of the browser session, the _utmz cookie has a six-month expiry date.
