I have some adult tubes/blogs that are getting more traffic than they used to. Im debating doing some link trades with people like we used to back in the day but I’ve not kept up with it enough to know if that helps or hurts with the current Google persona.

    Thoughts on backlinks among blogs/tubes?

Personally speaking, I think they do. One of my older blogs gets more traffic than a newer one and the only SEO difference I can see between the two sites is one of them has some fairly high ranking backlinks to it. Maybe I’m jumping to conclusions, but if part of acquiring page authority is about good organic links then there’s no way that quality backlinks won’t be relevant in SERPs. It’s simple logistics.

This is just my 2 cents CAD on it. I could be wrong, as corporations like Google do everything as a government would – ass backwards.

I have invested in paid linking for one site using a well known company and nothing seems to have happened with that after more than 6 months. Another site I don’t do any linking for is gaining traffic every day. All I do for most of mine is social media promotion and that seems to be doing the trick.

I know it seems almost cliche to say it, but I would stick to creating content people will want to share and then encourage that sharing yourself through all social media channels.

Google has done what it wanted to do, it’s made deliberate linking pretty pointless if you’re doing it for ranking rather than genuine exchange of interests etc.
It’s just my opinion, but playing by their rules (playing it safe) is probably the better option.

I think it’s safe to say that having links is better than having none. Beyond that, who knows how it’s calculated now days.

I agree in that targeting the interest groups is wise, it’s still a bit hit and miss as far as conversions, but referencing the performers in post is a good means of distribution.

Twitter however has taken to prioritizing tweets, and I’m starting to see the results as far as how they are doing it, but not seeing the results as far as how it is effecting my streams.

From what I see, backlinks are not as important as they used to be. But they are still useful. Quality backlinks always bring you quality traffic.

yes, quality back links are still a very important piece of the google puzzle. Look at all the well ranked sites on Google. They all have backlinks. What has been gaining importance in the last 2 – 3 years is social signal (people liking, tweeting, sharing, G+’ing you site).

    I agree.
I know it’s been debated numerous times already, and Google has apparently denied that there is any significant correlation, but I when I tweet more we see an increase in organic traffic. I don’t know if that’s because guys are searching on our site name, or whether it’s directly having an impact to be out there and conversing, but either way we see a boost.

It makes sense to me that social media accounts being active (and linked to you) would give some kind of boost, so I don’t trust Google when they say that it doesn’t. I do believe they have just tried to dodge the question because it’s potentially able to be manipulated, and it diminishes their control.
