Guestthere’s was a paysite in a niche we very much promote. the domain expired months ago, but it’s got lots of links to it. we know nothing about the owner, who has several other expired domains in his program plus one riddled with malware.
for all we know, the guy is in the middle of legal issues and law enforcement could think we were a part of it. paranoid? maybe. he has addresses in several countries with his same name, btw.
would you grab the paysite domain in the niche that was relevant while it was available?

GuestSounds like a yes to me.

GuestI would NOT think of touching it.
These days there is NO paranoia ONLY intelligent self preservation.
Law enforcement is only interested in quotas and nothing even remotely to do with actual justice.

GuestI say buy the domain. It’s a free market and you’re clearly not close friends with the previous owner (otherwise you’d know more details).

My words.

GuestI would say do a little searching on the guy and see if there’s any basis for your paranoia.
If not, if there’s no indication that he’s actually been doing anything dodgy at all, I would go for it.
Domains change hands all the time, even if he was responsible for something there would be a trail showing that you bought the domain and had nothing to do with whatever you imagine he might have been up to.This would be different if you were buying assets or data from him, but if all you’re buying is the domain I wouldn’t worry about it at all.

Guestis he selling it to you, or did you just see that it’s available via something like Godaddy …. ?? Either way, I think I’d say go for it.

Guesti did a whois and it was available. i used to send the site – it was a paysite – a little traffic. i didn’t even know the owner’s name till i did the whois, and for all i know, that isn’t the owner.
