Hey, I am deciding whether or not to start a free adult blog from blogger.com or wordpress.com. Or should I purchase a domain and find a host?
I can understand the benefit in using a host, but starting out, will a blog bring in the same amount of traffic?I am looking at a plan on the one adult hosting that has 3,000mb disk space and 60gb of bandwidth. is that good?
I plan on using the blog/website to be used to gain affiliates. So, I will have many pictures on the site. Will 3,000mb suffice?thanks
maxgGuestI would not use blogger.com, wordpress.com or any of those. They will limit what you can do.
Hosting is pretty cheap now days and if you go with your own you get much better control over your site. No extra adverts etc that doesnt belong to you.
You might want to make sure you can use it for adult content (if thats what you are planning to do).
I think a few other good hosts were mentioned in this post:
jon83GuestDefinately go with your own hosted domain, rather than a free host.
To begin with, depending on the blogging platform you choose, you can hack and edit the theme to your heart’s content, plus you can add the nifty little plug ins, that many offer, which are limited on free hosts.
Hosting isn’t that expensive anymore, but always make sure you have the right version of php, at how many db you can have, as well as ftp access, so that you can play with your sites as much as you want.
Wordpress for example requires some minimums to operate, which you can check on their site. Not sure about the other blogging platforms.
KGuestits crazy to not go with paid hosting, spend the $10-15 monthly and you will avoid loads of headaches when freehosts go under or get hacked and lose you blogs or decide that they don’t want your blog anymore and cancel it on you….all leaving you to start over from scratch (and all causing you to lose your active backlinks and SEO positioning too).
CharlesGuesthello rareair like everyone says better gets a hosting to prevent future problems and limitations if you are going to open a gallery site you have to optimize your pictures to gets better load in your website which is a benefit, i recomended personally this one caesium you can find it here: saerasoft.com , wish luck in your proyect.
madmaxGuestIf you’re planning on doing adult, stay away from blogs hosted on blogger and other services which do not allow adult. They will shut down your blog as soon as it’s reported.
Generally speaking, if you want to do this as a business and for profit, definitely invest in your own domain name and hosting. What other business can you start at under $100 a year?
RickyjunGuestGo with paid hosting. But, be careful with the virtual accounts. If you go with a cheap host and get on a server with a few hundred blogs that are busy, then you will may have some issues. The hosting from the post above has some great deals and I know many adult affiliates that use them.
Mr Adult AffiliateKeymasterI would not put a blog on one that I gave a damn about, as one morning you are going to wake up and find that the sites are literally gone. If anything, I would use them to set up blogs and send posts to it from my main blog that is on a paid for hosting service.
That way you have the time invested for just a basic blog, with the outbound links you want to your other sites and affiliate programs, but not the hours you spend to post, and not a huge financial crisis if it goes away.
Also … be very certain that the free host allows porn. If it does not, it is not worth your time as they will delete it.
If you just want to find cheap, adult OK, hosting, I have written a blog post about the adult hosting lately.
NickGGuestI learnt the hard way – started some blogs through blogspot free hosting a few years back, got them well established and then blogger started slapping on the warning pages and search traffic disappeared. Still publish these ones through Blogger but to own hosting, so url only thing that changed.
Very impressed with WordPress for publishing – seems to be good for SEO.
JaymGuestI think most free host used to get the numbers up and then dissapear or turned the free sites into adds for thier own promotions. I guess free hosts had a place if you were starting out and just wanted to see if the business was for you or to get your toes wet.
You can get quality hosting nowadays for a small amount a month anyway and if you cant afford that then are you serious about this business.
