I checked my inbox a couple of minutes ago and I see an e-mail from the one adult affiliate program saying that I have a sale. I didn’t believe at first. Even though I know I signed up to be an affiliate with them, I was surprised because I haven’t promoted my adult site at all. I thought maybe some virus or something cloned their e-mail. Anyways, I logged in, and sure enough it’s legit!
The blog that I made the sale from is an autoblog. And I’m dying to find out how someone came across my site. As I said, I didn’t promote it, and I would think the duplicate content penalty would have prevented the site from getting noticed.
I actually gave up on the adult niche because these sites need dedication with their updates, and I don’t feel that I can offer the level of attention that they need.
amoonGuestWhat’s your site?
Also.. what is an autoblog?
BuddGuestI’d assume a blog that is nothing but rss feeds and no original content.
Mr Adult AffiliateKeymasterCongratulations! I still remember the feeling when I got my first sale and check. Great feeling which spurred me on to work harder.
gilbiGuestMy first sale was with ManCheck. Those where the days you could just throw up any crappy banner or site and make money.
maxaffGuestYeah first sale is special. My first one was with Cumonmyglasses.
DOCGuestCongrats Mercy.
It definitely is still a viable business, I have numerous clients who would attest to that. You do need to put the work in, but you can create a blog that can get you a full time income if you keep with it. Like everything else, if it’s worth doing it’s worth some investment in both time and money. Use both wisely and monitor everything and after about six months or a year you’ll have a good understanding of what works and build your business on that.
phillipkGuestMy first was with Mancheck, too. My first paysite: Hot Desert Knights. That was back in 2003.
mercyGuestThank you guys.
DOC, I’m still on the fence about working on the site. This payment certainly does give me hope, but as I said, these porn blogs are not the kind to set and forget. I thought RSS feeds would be the easy answer. But I’m not enthusiastic about some of the posts created by the feeds. This is why I gave up on the blogs. My attention has been more on creating complete sites (those that don’t require updates).
I’ll still renew the domain registration (I purchased it in December), but I have two non-porn blogs that are my priority.
