Did anyone else notice a significant decline in Tumblr traffic starting around November 7th? My adult blog traffic is down by about 2/3. On the plus side I don’t see a decline in sales so maybe the traffic wasn’t worth a damn to begin with.. Could be I’ve been wasting all this time over the years for nothing.. ugh
All other social media is holding steady for me and I haven’t changed a thing. Been using Tumblr for years.
Thanks,
Kevin.conranGuestThat’s odd.
I haven’t seen any decline from Tumblr at all.
Sounds like it might be a logging issue rather than an actual decline.JayGuestMy Tumblr traffic is pretty stable from mid-July to now.
KevinGuestJust to be clear I’m talking about outbound traffic leaving Tumblr, not incoming traffic. My daily sessions on Tumblr are pretty stable and have been for a very long time. What I’m noticing is a serious decline in the number of visitors on Tumblr who actually click on any links and visit my other sites. In the past I used to get decent amount of traffic from Tumblr.
For example lets say I want to know how much traffic site A is getting from the work I’ve done on my Tumblr blog. Within Google Analytics I select site A and then I select Acquisition/Social.. This shows inbound traffic from various social media platforms.. This is where I’m seeing the significant decline in Tumblr traffic since the 7th of November.
Over the last month or so I did notice that Tumblr implemented a jump script of sorts for their outbound links. t.umblr.com/redirect?z=http://www.yoursite.com/
I wonder if this could possibly be screwing with Google Analytics, hence the decrease in inbound traffic I’m seeing?
Thanks,
Kevin.conranGuestYep, that’s what I assumed you meant. I use the same method of checking Google stats.
Definitely not seeing any change in my stats for Tumblr.
Could it be that you’ve changed a setting on Tumblr, or maybe changed something about your routine, or the content you’re posting? I definitely see some content performing better than others so perhaps you’ve just inadvertently been posing less engaging images over this period and it’s translated in fewer clicks? It could even be a tag you were using that’s fallen out of fashion.KevinGuestVery bizarre.. I haven’t changed a thing. I’m doing the exact same thing I’ve been doing for years. I can understand fluctuations but this isn’t what I’m seeing either.. It’s a sudden drop by 2/3 and it’s held for over a month now. I can’t think of a single thing that I could have done to change anything on my end. The traffic to my Tumblr blog itself has even held steady. The only thing I’ve noticed different as I said previously was the jump script that Tumblr seems to be using on outbound links now.
Thanks for checking though.. I appreciate the help.

mattdGuestI gave up on Tumblr a long time ago, had three separate niches going and put my best efforts into it. But for me it’s just a cesspool of freeloaders and criminals posting free or stolen content. It does give the tranny hookers a venue to show their explicit pics and video clips of actual tricks in action, so I suppose it has some value.
JasunGuestTumblr is a good way to promote performers or your blog… kind of. I have my Tumblr site that links back to my blog but no sales directly from Tumblr.
msmGuestI kept seeing Tumblr sites turn up in porn search results so I created an account last year but never did anything with it. It’s still on my list of things to do.
