Hi – I’ve just had a member join the one adult paysite but the Referral URL is saying No Referring URL!
Can anyone explain what thats about?
Thanks
KingpinGuestI wish I knew.
I get hundreds of those, and I’ve never heard a real explanation for it.IntenseMarkGuestThat basically means there was no cookie and Nats couldn’t pull a referring url. Many people use private browsing with their browser or use websites that prevent cookies especially when going to porn sites.
DerickzGuestThanks guys for comments, I beleive I have had them before but in this case it would have been interesting to know what site pulled the sale.
JerrylGuestUse campaign codes! It’s super easy with NATS – you can do them on the fly as you send the visitor. NATS has campaigns and “traffic tags”. Basically a campaign is made up of one or more traffic tags. So let’s say I have a banner ad that I’ll call banner 1234 and it’s used on my both adult sites. On the one site I’d add autocamp=rT,b1234 to the end of the URL, while on the other site I’d add autocamp=bz,b1234. (You’ll need a ? or & before autocamp, depending on how your URL is formatted).
Then when I go into NATS I can see the traffic by campaign, or by traffic tag. Which means I can report by all the first site traffic (traffic tag ‘rT’), all the second site (traffic tag ‘bz’), or by that particular banner ad across both sites (traffic tag ‘b1234’).
Campaign codes are a lot more reliable than the referring page – which browsers can strip out.
coolmikeGuestI Second that, there is one sponsor of mine thats never displayed a Reffering URL, but using campaigns you can easily separate the sales by site etc.
