I wanted to take a poll of opinions from people about different types of navigation on adult sites where there is a lot of search results.
If you are searching for something and you have multiple pages of results, which do you prefer? Navigating in the same window and using the back button, or a window that pops out that you can close and go back to what you are doing when you are done interacting with it ?
Anyone can open links in tabs, but having it be a forced attribute is something I can see either going bang or bust.
From a sales perspective I would consider how many people block popups, and that it might be a pain in the ass, but I also wonder how important it is to not have to keep going back and potentially loose where you left off as you would go through a list of results on a page.
I think it probably depends what the site is and where the new window is going to.
For me on this forum, having the links someone posts in a thread automatically open a new window is very handy. I guess it depends whether you’re sending the user to a final destination or not.
The question is this. Do you want them to come back? If so, a new window is better. If not, the same window is better.
