Hi,
I spent hours on the forum to get information very useful for a newbie like me.
Now, my new question mark, concerns the legal side of having a blog for adults. I have read several threads and I wonder if it is possible for an adult amateur webmaster like me, to be completely in compliance with all laws, I speak especially about the famous 2257. I wonder, if I am a Canadian resident and my domain name ending with .Ca but my host is in the united states and I have mainly pictures or videos related to affiliate programs on my blog, am I really at risk of problem if I just put a warning in the style of:
“this website is not the producer and all 2257 documents are maintained by the content producers
and more information can be obtained on the specific sites as linked on corresponding pages”I know this is not sufficient by law but is there a risk of problem or if it can be tolerate. I want to follow as possible the rules but to have to hold the documents for all of these pictures or videos for an amateur webmaster like me, that start with a simple blog, it seems difficult.
In any case I will continued my search and thank you all for your opinions and precious help.

dirkpeddlerGuest2257 regulations are blurry at best. Since your content seems to be hosted in the USA, it would have to follow the 2257 laws and regulations.
If you cannot produce the required documents the least you should do is have a 2257 web page listing the holders of such information with a means of contacting them on the page. Using sponsor provided content usually includes this information from the sponsor.luffyorgGuestIt doesnt matter where you are hosted, the laws that apply to you is in the country you are based. For example, I host all my sites in Canada but my company is based in the UK. I have to comply to UK laws, not Canadian or US laws.
Many webmasters are wrong thinking they are safe by hosting in so called “safe havens”, when actually they are legally responsible in the country of residence.
From the sound of it, you’re doing much the same as me and many other affiliates do. We do not own or produce content, only use what paysites provide us with. Most of us do not have or posses 2257 documents. Only the producers who are based in the US have them. As an affiliate in Canada you should not have to worry about 2257 at all. You will however have to make sure you comply to Canadian laws.
I’m sure I read somewhere that 2257 documents are in theory illegal in Canada as its against privacy laws or something. I have a feeling 2257 is in breach of laws here in the UK as well, as you can’t just publish private information online.
To be honest 2257 is a joke, many paysites buy content produced in Europe, South America, Russia.. and who knows if the documents they are provided with are legal, it would be VERY easy to fake photocopies of IDs. Do not assume just because a site has “2257” documents that they are legal. Far from it.
