Is it important to you guys to get as much social networking on your sites as possible? Or does it not make one bit of difference.
DOCGuestI think that depends on what type of site you have, if you have enough visitors etc. The problem is that there is so many different social networking sites and unless you offer something very different than the rest why would anyone bother using it? There isn’t anything worse than a social networking site / forum with no members or users.
You also have the massive problem with moderation. There is lots of spammers who will constantly try and publish links through profiles and posts.. not to mention members having fights and dramas.. or posting inappropriate content.
ChestertopGuestI don’t really understand the question… Blogs aren’t social networking sites… There’s nothing wrong with a site not having social networking.
devidGuestIMHO, porn surfers usually come to cum. then they go somewhere else to meet friends.
cbyrdGuestI think what bagfull means is sharing services like addthis. We see that gay surfers share links a lot more than straight ones, its a slow build sometimes, but every click counts, right ?
Dake40Guestor he could mean comments.
bagfullGuestStuff like Add This, Google Friends Connect, Facebook Like, Tweet This, etc. Are those important to get on your sites or blogs?
maxaffGuestI haven’t noticed an increase to my traffic SEO wise after adding AddThis, but I have noticed that many people actually share those links and I get a nice amount of click traffic. So yes, they will bring some additional surfers to your site, but don’t expect google or bing to treat your site more favorable because of it.
cbyrdGuestAdd this does well if your content (or what is framing it) is original and relevant and that people want to share it. One indicator of how to see this trend is to look in your analytics referring links and see what is coming already from MSN (just a good benchmark), twitter, facebook etc.. The sharing services just make this more convenient.
Facebook can be block-happy with the like API so you have to watch what you post there, but with the way they are going, Id estimate there will be a time coming very soon that you will have to be there in the way that you have to be listed in google results. May as well establish early!
PeteGuestIt’s always good these days to give readers the option to share your content on social media. My biggest traffic sources are from Tumblr and Twitter.
