I keep getting strange adult domain offers every now and then. The company that offers those domains apparently thinks they know which domains could be of interest for me (which isn’t so difficult to figure out).

What makes the whole thing look very fishy, is that they’ve sent me 5 offers to bid on a domain, within the past 4 days and they sent all those offers from different email addresses and company names. However, the style of those email offers is pretty much the same, so it’s quite obvious that they are all from the same sender.

They are asking me to click some link to place a bid and strangely the links are also on different domains.

If this is really a legit offer, they probably should rethink their idea of contacting people for business proposals. It looks very strange and I certainly wouldn’t use any of their links, even if I wanted to buy the domain they’re offering.

Did anyone else receive such “offers”?

I get it all the time. They are just fishing for domain name buyers. In most cases the domain they mention isn’t even purchased. Or has expired. They’ve always given me some good tips on domains though! LOL!

same here, i get them all the time. What they do is put a reserve on the domain name, then spew out those emails. If they get a buyer, they complete the buy of the domain name, otherwise they just let it go. This reserve practice used to be more common, but ICAAN curved it by fining registrars that had too high a % of returned domains, so typically these guys have a deal with their registrar to let them be the ones that continue to use the reserve system.

BTW, I have checked a couple of domain name “offers” about a month after they expired and were supposedly going to be picked up by the email author….and found that the domains were available for general registration.

Thanks guys. Guees I’m going to dig out some offer they made some months ago and see if the domain is available.
