Twitter is planning to clamp down a bit more on adult. Specifically they’ll be doing “immediate and permanent suspension of accounts identified as the original source of nude imagery taken and shared without the subject’s permission.” And “the definition of non-consensual nudity has been expanded to include hidden-camera content and ‘upskirt’ imagery that might have been captured without the victim being aware”.

So let’s say you run a social site (e.g. a hookup site) and a member gives you permission to make an image public. You have to think twice before posting that image to Twitter in case the member doesn’t really have rights to that image. Or at least keep the image on a separate Twitter account that you don’t mind being closed down.
Or if you produce “reality porn” and shoot in public spaces and your video gets reported, Twitter might think it was “hidden-camera” and your account will closed down.
So whenever you post something you have to ask yourself whether you’re willing to lose all your Twitter followers if the image gets reported. Even if you actually have rights to the image. Basically anything with an amateur vibe could be misinterpreted and land you in hot water. I mean have you ever had Twitter respond to a support request? Do you think they’ll bother to hear you out?
MazeralGuestI actually usually get instant twitter support responds, But i have nearly 70k followers so its possible it works on a followers basis.
This is although VERY concerning, I think I will be taking a look at my account and purging a lot of older posts as a result of this.
ShimantoGuestisn’t real hidden cam and upskirt actually illegal lots of places? i know it is in california…
MazeralGuestYes I believe it is in most places, the risk here is what twitter can perceive as real or not based on reports to them
ShimantoGuesttrue. i’ve run into similar issues from several places including google.
RicharreenGuestIt’s a reasonable change in my opinion.
Taking and sharing images of someone in a private setting without their consent is criminal in most countries.
There is no way for them to confirm whether an account is “faking” this kind of image for promotion, and the risks to others who haven’t given permission should take precedence. If only they could take other threats as seriously, like, say, colluding with Russian operations to elect a criminal President?
TJamesGuestWill the people of the US actually take action to vote him out of the white house is the real question. All I see is a bunch of people complaining on a daily basis about the POTUS on social media. We all know he’s scum. I get tired of seeing it day in and day out. Get off your asses and do something about it people!!!
JimGuestthey’ve been doing it for awhile now , occasionally one of my IMAGES will not appear like it’s been blocked which is funny because you have to FOLLOW me to see any of my IMAGES.
I am glad to see some of those monster porn distribution profiles disappear , it irritates me that someone who doesn’t produce a damn thing can copy & paste and have a following in the hundred thousands while my daily uploads barely get a LIKE!
