Most of us affiliates think of SEO as writing good adult content, with the right keywords in the right places, images named and tagged accordingly, and all back-end SEO related options optimized to suit what Google traditionally likes…

All Google seems to be doing is saying that even if you don’t know everything there is to know about SEO, you can still be rewarded for having original content that is actually useful to readers.

You don’t need to have every tweak in place to do well as long as you have engaging content that cannot be seen elsewhere. Google seems to be saying that if you have a great site packed with great articles, but there is no visible keyword they can find in specific articles, or the images don’t have tags, it won’t matter so much. The originality and worth of the text will override the added little extra SEO tweaks you might have missed.

My opinion is that we should all be writing for both Google and our readers. Optimize the site and pages for Google using some of the great tools out there, and create good text posts that make you different from the thousands of other affiliates pasting in the same text as their competition.
