recently someone on another board discovered that when members entered the member area of this adult site, they were met with a page suggesting that they cancel their currently subscription and then buy an annual subscription that was a very tempting price. this, of course, cut out the affiliates’ rebills.

this program, btw, removed that link from their member area and were very apologetic, but since the link was in their member area, it took a review login to discover the issue.

and here’s something i’ve seen recently at a couple DVD studio sites. they take the page the affiilates send traffic to and make it into page with a single link to the tour – the rest of the page is dedicated to selling DVDs. not only that, surfers would have to really look to find the tour OR stumble upon it because the page they land on is a DVD selling page.

so always check your links if you’re not seeing any sales – you might be surprised what you’re linked to!

Can you name that program? That kind of thing is at best incompetence and at worst theft. Either way I would drop them in seconds.

I think that first scenario would be good if they gave credit to the original affiliate, I am shocked they would not – well, not really, after being in the biz for so long its not shocking at all!!!

they seemed to be sort of newbie-esque in their thinking, actually. they reminded me of the many paysite owners who are completely apart from the webmaster community, and when asked to remove a large group of traffic leaks, say innocently “oh, but i make money with them” and make you explain WHY it’s stealing.

I might add that I am also not a big fan of X-sells on a revshare program w/ affiliate traffic.

Thanks for the heads up on that…

There is a couple of sponsors that get a decent supply of unique traffic from me that actually go’s to dvd landing pages time for a bit of poking about to be done then me thinks.

This is another great reason to measure visits and sales to your sponsor sites constantly. Measure results, and check it out/make changes when sales deteriorate.
