This comment from mradultaffiliate in another post struck a chord with me. “I can’t tell you how much money I have stuck in loser programs waiting for another couple of sales so I can hit a minimum.” I’m guilty as well. There are also some adult sites that are well done sites, but they just don’t sell for me. So, I’ve wasted a lot of time and resources hoping that they will pick up.
How do you decide when to reduce the amount of time you spend promoting a sponsor that doesn’t convert?
My general rule is that I’ll try a sponsor for a month and if it doesn’t convert then I’ll stop promoting it on the site.
PeekayGuestI usually send a few thousand hits from different sites. If that isn’t enough to get me a sale, then it’s safe to assume the site will never be a top-seller.
JaydeepGuestGood question. But let me address the “loser adult affiliate program” thing first. I’ve discovered in going through stats today that I do have some money trapped waiting for a minimum.
Like one program … I probably just need 2 or 3 more sales and I can get $100, so while their sites don’t convert well for me at all 1:2700, it’s probably worth putting up a banner on one of my sites just so I can be done with them.
I have seven other programs that if I put up banners or did a post and was able to sell a couple memberships each this month I could probably end up with an extra $700 this month, or next when they pay out. So I’m glad this post and the other one prompted me to look at this.
As far as others, I generally try a couple of posts and see what happens. Then they sort of fall off my list, every once in a while I get sucked back in when I see a hottie.
SmartwayGuestI leave up banners and blog posts for at least six months, which usually results in thousands of hits. If I haven’t seen any sales after that I’ll probably drop the sponsor and try another, with a few exceptions:
1. If the affiliate rep and/or site owner seems like a nice, courteous person (who responds to emails in a prompt and pleasant way) chances are I will stick with them for a much longer time. If they don’t respond to my emails or generally seem to have a bad attitude I’ll drop them very quickly.
2. If they gave me a site pass that does not expire then I’ll also stay with them, especially if I find their content arousing.
Some of you might think I’m nuts for that second point but what can I say… I’m gay, human and often horny so if a sponsor gives me hard-ons instead of cash that’s sometimes good enough for me to stay with them a little longer.
