Take a look at the traffic numbers for Sean Cody?

    rank2traffic.com/seancody.com

When MindGeek acquired Sean Cody it already had a lot of traffic ? around 2.3 million visits per month. But for almost a year after the acquisition MindGeek sent up to an additional 10 million visits per month. Since then it’s settled out to about an additional 4 million per month, but those are incredible numbers.

Those are 4 to 10 million visits per month that aren’t going to other paysites that have similar content and convert just as well. And that’s just one of MindGeek’s sites.

Don’t get me wrong – MindGeek is just doing what’s best for their business. I’m just commenting on the the impact of traffic folks (aka affiliates) owning paysites and giving them preferential treatment?

Affiliates and sponsors really are a symbiotic relationship. The better we do, the better you do.

Thats what happens when you own both the biggest paysites and the biggest tubes.

I think Sean Cody today is what Playgirl was back in the 70’s and 80’s, a brand most of the public associates with naked men. I’ve heard that college girls (and presumably gay guys) go to it first when they’re looking for hot college age nude male models.

For awhile there Sean Cody kept popping up in mainstream media reports about controversies surrounding their models. I’m sure that’s why Mindgeek bought them.

Having said all that I don’t trust Alexa for a minute because I don’t think there is any verifiable way they can prove their stats. A lot of articles on the net like this one concur:

I will say that as an affiliate I used to make much more $$ with Sean Cody before they were bought.

Well to me maxaff that makes Total sense… before they were bought you had a fair chance of the surfer you sending not already having an account and then wanting one. Now that they are featured on every tube site going (every affiliates biggest competitor), as well as I am sure many men.com cross sales and cross email promos, their membership must have risen tenfold.

Right now the chances of you sending a visitor and them already having an account is significantly higher, resulting in same traffic and less sales.

I noticed it a while back on some blogs I run, if I featured a small site one I didn’t promote much or even one i had just found existed, I would make many sales in the first few weeks, yet sending 10x the traffic to mindgeek and a few of their big competitors and I would maybe only sell 1 trail. Problem is with me I am stubborn and like to add to the existing rebills at Men, SeanCody ect, so it just makes sense to try keep selling even if they have become a much harder sell.
