There are a lot of adult types of blogs (especially on blogspot). Most of these “webmasters” also have banners / links to paysites, but they probably never heard about affiliate programs.

I see a lot of these amateur webmasters linking to some porn sites – just because they think their models are hot. They don’t have a clue that they could make money with it by just signing up as an affiliate (most of these blogs have tons of traffic).

Sometimes they contact me and ask me for a linktrade, which I gladly accept, but at the same time I think I should educate them.

I bet a lot of you also get in contact with these webmasters or maybe some sponsors might notice these blogs. What do you do in that case? Just let them be or tell them what they could do to make some money?

In some cases the lack of using affiliate programs is intentional. I knew one blogger who didn’t want his real identity known by anyone. And in other cases they have the mistaken impression that stealing content is legal if you don’t make money off it.

But yeah, some just need education. There’s one blog I follow that I love but he always says “see link in sidebar”. He’s an affiliate, but doesn’t understand that he needs to make the link simpler than typing the name of the site into Google.

Well, I would probably tell them that without the links even copping stuff that’s clearly promo material is copyright infringement. I’d be nice about it and clue them into the fact that they could be doing the same thing and getting money to pay off their student loan or whathaveyou.

If I wasn’t in a nice mood, and they weren’t ripping my members’ area, I might also be tempted to keep my mouth shut and enjoy some free type-in traffic.

I see quite a few blogs come through on my directories that don’t have affiliate codes. Of all the things I DO tell guys about fixing – that isn’t one of them.

My best affiliate on my site (when I worked there… I no longer do…) was a guy who had a blogspot blog he did for free. He loved the site and wrote about it incessantly. I gave him free memberships, DVDs… whatever he wanted.

I FINALLY got him to sign up to the affiliate program about a year afterward. He made about 2 grand the first two weeks.

    That’s when he got it.

I think we paid for that guy’s house.
