Thanks for the great info. I found while I was researching info on affiliate marketing by buying traffic from TJ and others, but given the info you have provided and I have read elsewhere, that is a very tough market now because a lot of the companies advertise direct. And they are pretty good at what the do. Would you agree?
Main question on setting up a cam site. Seems like a better way to go. Can I place my own ads on my site or does that also get pulled from the camhost provider (chatterbate, etc).

Adult camming is a huge market so there is lots of competition just like in any other big market. I do not buy much traffic these days so I can not tell you much about this really since I find building websites and getting organic traffic for free more rewarding and more stable and better for the long haul.
Of course, you can put all kinds of ads, from different sponsors, and as many as you want to on your own cam website provided it is really your own one, not some whitelabel that is hosted by the affiliate program.

I have been doing media buying for adult offers including cams ones for some time and it is a hard job hence I prefer building sites.
You need to know that all ad companies will sell traffic directly to cam sites, pay sites and big affiliates as they always outbid small guys.
There is still money to be made, but you will have to be willing to lose a lot of green on testing different strategies and offers before you find something that works.
You can spend a grand and make zero dollars. I have seen it happen to me.
It has been proven on different forums and on this one included that targeted traffic from Google converts into revenue very well, so that is why I prioritize on my own websites.
