I don’t know if you folks are seeing the same thing, but Google’s search console, or what they used to call webmaster tools, appears to be completely useless. The page indexing stats are way off, according to my own searches.
For instance, I just re-launched an adult site and search console says there is only 1 page indexed. However, after doing a search in google.ca (incognito) using the query site:examplewebsite, I see several pages indexed. I also use another stats app and it’s telling me I’m getting some traffic via Google search queries. Again though, search console is saying otherwise.
So, what gives? Am I missing something? Were there a bunch of changes that took place that I’m out of the loop on?

I don’t think google search console (old WMT) is or ever has been realtime, I know for a fact i see traffic from google and it takes at least a week or 2 before I see it at the same levels in WMT…
Its not really a useless tool though, this is where google will warn you about any penializations and problems with your site, and is a good tool to try work out if your seo efforts and schema mark-up is correctly displayed, but again this isnt always realtime…
I always see it as a tool I never want to use, as usually if I need to use it there is a problem somewhere that I need to fix, but saying that its always good to know if something is broken somewhere!

Thanks for your thoughts. At least I know these issues aren’t jkust on my end. Although, it does suck for everyone.
I know search console can be helpful and I do check for mobile responsiveness, any errors, etc. I just wish their real time stats weren’t so behind.
You use it for other things mainly, rather than checking on indexing.
