    Hey All!

Curious to know if anyone is buying hardlinks on adult sites for SEO/traffic? Or if anyone has ever purchased an advertorial before?

    Advertorial Example:
    gay.fleshbot.com/6020170/take…e-in-charlotte

    Thanks,

    James

That article is pretty much exactly what Google says you should not do. It’s a keyword heavy post that’s quite obviously spam and only created to manipulate Google rankings. So I would think its pretty pointless from a SEO perspective.

I agree with you 100%! The example I showed is an advertorial, that is for traffic. With regards to hardlinks, we sell them in our right runner and we also write articles with organic text, 1 hardlink and Anchor. We also sell them for direct response purposes.

I should have been more clear about the Hardlinks and Advertorials. We sell them both.

Your input on this is right on the money and appreciated.

I get that, but the problem is selling links in any format or shape is against Googles guidelines which means you could get penalised. It’s also very questionable if it makes any real difference, a link on a sidebar 10 years ago might have given you a boost but now Google is clever enough to disregard any links placed to manipulate rankings.. specially something so obvious as a list of links in a sidebar.

Articles on the other hand where a link is placed to a site within relevant text is probably harder to spot and worth more but also something Google has tried to hit down hard on, I remember they published several posts talking about how they disliked anyone doing such posts. If its done well it could probably provide a boost however if it’s not, it’s probably going to have the opposite effect.

The page you showed on fleshbot have something like 20 links to men4rentnow.com using keywords in a very short text. That by Google would without a doubt be marked as spam and if anything penalise the site you are linking too.

My SEO is a bit rusty though, it’s just such a different place now than years ago where we could use all these different tricks to make our sites go higher in rankings.

Now selling traffic, that’s a whole different thing. Robot exclude any links and no hard can be done more or less.

I think it’s important to make the distinction between several different things.

The example given is obviously not a good one, we all agree on that.
That kind of post is only going to harm everyone involved. Some seem to think that it’s only the one being linked to who might suffer a penalty, but both can be penalised for a spammy post like that.

Links in sidebars are also a no-no these days. Unless it’s a part of your circle of sites and they’re connected clearly and thoroughly.
If you run a business with three different sites that are all connected in some way there are probably signals to show this (such as regular linking patterns joining them, business addresses, domain registration details etc) but if you’re just listing a group of random sites in the sidebar without much evidence to show they’re related to you for valid reasons then you’re likely only harming them and yourself.

The only way to really offer anyone a link of worth these days is to include them in a natural, comprehensive post of relevant content. It doesn’t matter too much if money changes hands, there is no way for Google to know if you’ve come to an agreement. And, really, it’s none of their business anyway.

It’s entirely reasonable for someone to buy a link but this should only be done when it makes sense, surrounded by good, relevant content and in a post or page that actually offers the reader something.

Links are still vital for SEO, but they need to be good quality.

Ideally, if you’re buying any links, you want them from a reputable site willing to write a detailed and relevant post. It’s even better if they link out to other sources too, such as news sites or wiki’s. You should only seek to be linked out to in a paragraph surrounded by relevant words, unless you are the sole focus of the piece.

That’s my opinion on it. Without knowing what Google does and thinks behind closed doors we’re all forced to come to our own conclusions.
