I’ve been working on a project recently to organize my hard drive collection of porn videos and thought I’d share it here and ask if anyone has another system that works for them. My old method was to just save video files in a folder from the site they came from (Sean Cody, Chaos Men, Randy Blue, etc.). When it came time to write up a blog post I’d pick one of the videos at random, watch it, write a review, grab the promo pics and post them on one of my blogs.

Maybe I’m getting jaded in my old age but lately I’m finding that a scene and the model(s) must REALLY turn me on in order to motivate me enough to write up a blog post so finding and keeping track of these scenes has been a challenge.

My solution has been to create sub-folders within the sponsor folders labeled as VERY BEST, BEST, VERY GOOD, GOOD and OK. When I download a video I do a quick scan to immediately decide which folder it should go into and I save it there. Then when I have time to write up some blog posts I go right to the VERY BEST and BEST folders to watch the entire scene. This saves a ton of time and keeps me from having to scan through dozens (hundreds?) of videos that quite frankly bore me.

Another time saver has been to create a folder called PHOTOS within the sub-folders and in that I save one photo associated with the model or scene in the sub-folder. It’s usually faster to scan through these pics to find a scene to watch rather than loading up the video.

The last month or two I’ve been reorganizing my huge collection and it’s been worthwhile. I’ve found many great forgotten scenes I never wrote about when they first came out so now I have a lot of new blog material. Also, I’ll probably just delete all the files in the OK folders because I’ll probably never write up anything about them.

Sounds like you have a new system figured out … but I personally think good and ok can both get deleted. You really only want to write about the Very Best because if those excite you, then you’re going to write about it in a way that excites your readers …. hopefully enough to buy a membership! But I can see hanging on to the next 2 down, unless you have a really large amount in your Very Best folder. Remember, you will be getting new material on a regular basis and if it keeps the Very Best at a certain volume to meet your needs then you’re just using up hard drive space for the others. Which, I suppose, isn’t such a big deal these days as they are down right cheap compared to even 10 years ago. I’m just frugal LOL!

I actually don’t have any porn saved at all. But I remember from the days of having lots of photo content that finding what you needed where always difficult no matter how I tried to organise it.

Personal porn? I have very little of that.

Porn for business… I’ve got tons of that (over a quarter million images, plus videos, etc), and I manage that with a CMS that tracks every crop and every image rating, as well as alt tags for each image, and meta data about the image (who’s in each image, who’s fucking who, etc.)

I promote three different niches so I organize my folders accordingly under the directory of ‘promo’, within each folder I break that down into the sponsors. I also have a ‘daily’ folder where I drop content as I go and often times label folder by date or week or niche. I also make certain to keep a ‘links’ folder where I can store text files as I find I have to save a lot of different galleries, embeds, and file links.

Today I was going through those folders and deleting old content that I’ll not likely use, I’ve found the the times when I was just grab sets and save them that I didn’t always turn around and use them. So I’ve gotten into a habit of grabbing content on a per need basis and embrace the fact that it is always at my sponsors site, don’t see much need for storing all that stuff anymore on my HD. It will certainly bite you in ass later when you go looking for something and then realize you’ve got to go back and get it again, but everything’s a trade off.

As far as you’re comment about dealing with content that you like, I tend to do the same but find that to be a bit of a trap, as often times the most popular performers or even the performers you’ve not taken a fancy to, are the ones that the fans are digging the most, so I try to be very mindful of that.

The upshot for me at least, is to get the content out there, it serves a much greater purpose in circulation than it does sitting dormant..
