It seems like there’s a lot of chatter in porn about VR, but not much of anything on here.

Are any affiliates promoting VR sites yet? Are any sponsors putting out promo materials for VR? If so, I’m wondering what the differences are in the promo materials? I mean how do you do promo clips? Are (any of) the promo pics panoramic or 360? images? If 360? ? how does that work? Are they a series of images that get stitched together in some sort of player?

It just seems like there would be some interesting opportunities with VR. A recent article on an SEO blog about how Google handles 360? images got me thinking about the issue (again). And Facebook is doing interesting things with panoramic & 360? images. And I mean there are some fun/interesting things that can be done ? IF you have the right promo materials. But there are also challenges ? like if you mimic what FB does with panoramic images, you’d need to know where the initial focal point of the image is (if not the center). And how would you handle an actual VR promo clip? I wouldn’t even know where to start with that one.

When I look at the tour for one of the big straight VR sites it looks pretty much like the tour for a non-VR site. So it doesn’t look like they’re really doing much of anything different. Which begs the question ? why not?

    Thoughts?

I just came across one example of a VR/3D? promo video…

    youtube.com/watch?v=Bkg_ZbkkXQY

So can someone explain to me why the double image? Does that become 3D if you have a headset? So is that something that’s “good” from the perspective of a VR porn buyer?

OK, I know I’m talking to myself here (probably because people are busy with Phoenix Forum), but…

That example above raises the possibility of VR experiences in different settings. You could be Donald Trump getting blown in the Oval Office, or a priest having sex in a cathedral, or you could have sex in the middle of Times Square. Probably best to avoid scenarios that are kids-oriented like playgrounds and schools, but just think of the possibilities…

It’s a double image as each side is meant to be seen with one eye, to create the 3D effect. I have a Vive VR system and it’s a heck of a lot of fun, though to be honest I have zero interest in watching porn on it.

Funny you should bring this up as I stumbled across a VR site today and come to find out it’s hosted by one of my sponsors, an age old sponsor whose out of date sites were scrapped years ago and now their entirely redesigned program primarily revolves around VR.

So my impressions were this, happy to find a new niche site, confused as to how to promote it and asked myself all of the same exact questions that you posed. The only promo tools available for this site are downloadable videos, and so I ask myself, what am I supposed to do with these?

Watched a couple of trailors and they were skewed as your example is, so then the one question I’ve always had is you’ve got to market the head gear along with the material. Except, that the thinking is most people have headsets on every level because VR has been prominent in mainstream and games now for several years, right?

So then the promotional question is this, just promote the link to the site and assume people have the head sets ready and are sold on joining the site, or what?

Personally, as a consumer I”m not sold on it, for two reasons. One I’m not crazy that the scenes seem to be mostly POV style, and secondly, I’m just not interested in the accouterments associated with watching it. It’s like karaoke, you can sing along with the pre-recorded music a thousand time, but it’s always gonna be the same, it isn’t like performing with a real band.

So what is the deal? Let’s hear from those who are cashing in big time on it already. Let’s hear from those who boasted of VR being the hottest thing to come down the pike since the microwave oven. Where’s Jerry Seinfeld when you need him, “what’s the deal with VR porn?”
