I just searched the forums and it looks like we haven’t talked much about ad plugins or ad servers in a while.

I have an adult blog I’m trying to get going and I was using openx until they stopped offering the free service and now I’m looking for something else that works well with WordPress.

Anyone have a script or something they recommend?

I should get the banners back up on my blog.

It’s just a simple design for now, I am considering adding more non porn related content with bigger guys as the focus if I can ever find the time to focus on it.

Basically it’s meant to drive traffic to my main site and also run some affiliate sales for complementary sites.

I’d be careful with Ad Rotate. It sort of has a history of falling apart with WordPress updates. I had dozens of ads set up, then Ad Rotate crashed and burned with one WP update and I was screwed. It’s a great program and I loved it when it worked.

Google is spiteful, it wants all the ad traffic and only likes its own banner programs on websites. But they don’t allow adult. Funnily enough, they also consider other banner programs to be spam or malware.

I would use text ads than banner ads.

my opinion text ads are much better and i think google like it.

OpenX actually works perfectly fine. If you IP blacklist the admin directories, so only your whitelisted IP can access them. That way no one can inject code. You should also make sure you have the correct permissions set for certain files to stop the injection. Too many hosts 777 all the files as an easy install.
