Just wondering for those than run blogs, how many posts you do per day?

I do a combo of celeb / everyday lads and gay porn posts so have alot to choose from and end up doing a post ever 2 hrs between 7am and 7pm so ends up at 7 posts per day.

I just try and keep a steady flow throughout the day and then have the main porn post of the day as the main article when people come onto the blog at peak hours (7pm-11pm)

How do you guys do it?

Want to make certain I understand, between ‘celeb’, ‘everyday lads’, and ‘gay porn posts’, are you adding 7 posts across three sites, or 7 posts per site?

I think it is good to maintain consistent and daily activity on blogs, especially if your additional promotions include social media and other avenues of getting those posts seen. At the same time investing that amount of work per day with hopes of drive by or SE traffic, I don’t think will necessarily tip the scale in your favor.

Personally I think one main posting per day is plenty, per site that is. I see it in good keeping to have daily updates, that should keep your regular readers happy and be favorable towards returning and new visitors.

We ordinarily post 6 per day on our blog, but occasionally 4 instead of 6 during holiday periods like Christmas when there’s a little less content around and we want to cover only the better quality updates as opposed to spamming just for quantities sake. But I do think regular posting is important. The regularity of posts is something that I think readers enjoy. They know when they come to you at 10pm each evening, or however often they visit, they will have x number of posts to catch up on.

I run several blogs and some are being updated once a week while I try to do at least 7 updates on my main blog. Not only readers enjoy regular and daily posts… Google does too. The more you post, the more love you get from Google.

You could schedule posts so that your updates are more spread out over the day… not just between 7am and 7pm (if that’s what you want).

That’s wise, I think finding a block of time for bulk scheduling helps a great deal, I try to do that myself as much as possible.

I do certainly think it’s important to add diverse content too.

Blogs with good following don’t just add affiliate posts to sell them things, they add interesting articles, they link to other blogs of interest in posts, they discuss things that the reader is likely to be interested in. Many affiliates miss the point of doing this, they think every post should be generating sales while ignoring that having that non-affiliate content will do that anyway, in the long run, simply through increasing the traffic and the following.

Another good little tip is to republish older content after updating it a little. Most of us have old posts we could probably re-purpose, and Google seems to like that too. Add a little more detail, throw in a couple of pics you might have missed out the first time, link it through to a newer post about the same performers etc…

Yeh i just try and post between 7am-7pm as i like to have my main affiliate on show for peak hours, as if people come on they more likely to click on first post they see? Thats my thinking anyway and 1am-6am used to be the less busy hours on my blog, might have to re-check this after the christmas / new year traffic has died down.

I find as I have created this backwards compared to other blogs, as I started this as a celeb blog, then adding everyday type of lads posts and then finally some affiliate posts. I currently do 2 affiliates with the others being a mix of everyday lads and celebs. When i add too many affiliate posts the userbase goes down and get bad feedback, so got to try and keep a good mix of all 3 types.

Seems to working well currently so prob keep at as it is, just wondered how everyone else ran their blogs.

Regarding republishing old content – had a plugin that did this before my traffic went down, due to various things (its getting better) would republish 1 post per hour and my traffic rocketed. Prob went a bit ott with 1 per hour but deffo something I might look at soon, maybe I just republish older affiliate content?

    All trial and error.

I like those ideas conran, I often times think my posts are not hardcore enough, and tend to focus on the the notion that readers are actually reading the paragraphs. But I agree in that checking old posts, and recycling is extremely wise.

What is the plug-in for rotating or bringing in old posts to the front on a scheduled basis?

Interesting topic – great to hear some guys posting every hour, that is nuts.

I post daily and usually sit down and spend half a day or more scheduling posts. I feel sitting down and writing a whole bunch keeps the blog flowing a lot better than me creating a new post each day.

I would say it’s probably better to avoid an automatic rotation and stick to re-purposing content you’ve added something to or changed in some way. If all you’re doing is moving posts to the front from months or years ago then that could give Google the impression that you’re either trying to manipulate it or that you’re losing interest in your site.
