Well, actually, it’s supposed to be a newer version of Blogger (remember how hot that was at one point?) – Tumblr is actually a blogging platform at heart.

But yeah, as I heard someone else say elsewhere, there none of the social media platforms that had porn and then banned it have prospered. This will be no different. It’s a sign of weakness, not strength.

It’s a shame for two different reasons. It is a good traffic source and I personally enjoy / follow many Tumblr blogs.

I guess Twitter will be welcoming (back) a lot of porn fans, as there aren’t any good alternatives at the moment. Now would be a good time to launch something similar and fill the gap.

I’ve heard rumors that Twitter has been looking at this for the last six months and they’re going to roll it out with a handful of other changes targeting “undesirable” content. It’s part of their ridiculous plan to team up with “conservatives” complaining about being “shadow banned” (really just being blocked by thousands of people who don’t want to see their bullshit).

As for Tumblr, this is going to hit one of our personal blogs hard. We were fast approaching 100k followers there. We’re now stuck with what to do. We might have to spend two weeks trying to manually delete thousands of posts, but even then we don’t know whether it’s going to be worth doing, they could just arbitrarily decide to delete us on the 17th anyway.

It seems they’re giving a team of reviewers power to delete blogs, which means personal biases and bigotries are going to play a big role and we’re likely to see a lot of edited blogs, LGBT accounts and political blogs being deleted by “moderators” who can get away with it – exactly the same as with Facebook and Twitter.

Their new terms are deliberately vague, and extremely sexist too. They claim they’re not going to target erotic text, which might give us an opportunity to continue there, but we don’t expect them to live up to that when they give reviewers ultimate power to destroy blogs based on personal opinions.

I do think this marks a major change in online adult content, but I’ll write something on the blog about that and post the link.

Its not going to make any difference on sales at all. The stuff you find on Tumblr is fun but it’s unlikely to get you off. The only type of sites that would make a difference to sales is if tube sites closed which won’t happen.

Tumblr, Twitter etc.. if and when they close will just mean less traffic to affiliates and paysites. There is nothing positive in them closing as it will just focus even more traffic on tube sites as they are the only option for free user-generated porn and random browsing (shared, uploaded or homemade).
